How Marianne helped me and my baby
Marianne is a gift Marianne is a truly a gift. The expertise she provided during my daughters' first weeks at home from the hospital is absolutely the reason that we had success breastfeeding. Marianne's visits to my house were productive and encouraging - and she was always available for a chat or via email if I had a question - big or small. Breastfeeding can be such a challenge for new moms, as it was for me, and I always recommend that my friends with newborns call Marianne at the first sign of a breastfeeding struggle. She is the BEST! Joanna Brumberger She helped my physically and emotionally Before the arrival of my son, I wasn't even sure I wanted to breastfeed but after a tough pregnancy and labor, there was no question. Only one problem, the odds were stacked against me. My son's doctor had recommended I call Marianne before throwing in the towel. From the minute I met her, I knew I was in good hands. I wasn't an easy client. I threw every obstacle at her - no supply, engorgement, my baby not gaining weight, mastitis, tongue tie, etc. Marianne was available at any hour and always went above and beyond. Together we overcame each and every obstacle. It's very clear that Marianne is very passionate about what she does and truly cares for her clients. She not only helped me physically but emotionally. I'm pretty confident that if our paths had not crossed, I wouldn't have been able to breastfeed nor would my son have thrived as well as he has. There is no question Marianne will be on speed dial for my next pregnancy. Christina Chianese We have Marianne to thank "I called Marianne when I my son, Marlon, was just three days old. Though Marlon is my third child, nursing was still hard. Marianne closely observed us, gave the most amazingly thorough written advice I have ever received from a wellness professional, and provided me with several truly new suggestions that set us on the path to nursing success. Marlon didn't have a drop of formula until his 8-month birthday. We have Marianne to thank!!" Laura Kalehoff (former editor-in-chief of Fit Pregnancy) She is the person you want at your side Being unable to properly breastfeed my newborn son was the most challenging and disheartening experience. Calling Marianne was the best thing I did during the early days of motherhood. Marianne possesses incredible kindness, patience and knowledge. She is exactly the kind of person you want on your side when you are facing this deeply personal difficulty. With her calm and reassuring presence, she is extremely professional; she gave us help and recommendations only after thoroughly examining all aspects of the situation. She sent referrals, reference materials to learn more about our specific issue and was always available to answer any questions we had. She was a strong partner in the process and I would confidently recommend her practice. Shruti (and Rohan!) Padilla She was a lifesaver for me and my son Marianne came to me when my son was 6 days old. He had never been able to latch on and I was really struggling with whether I should continue to try breastfeeding or if I should just give up. She came to my apartment and was so sweet, patient, and more than helpful. The one thing Marianne said to me that really stuck with me every time I attempted to breastfeed (and still to this day) was that it can sometimes take 6 weeks for the baby to learn how to breastfeed!!! I felt like I was failing because he was already 6 DAYS old, but hearing it might take 6 WEEKS, I vowed to keep trying and then reevaluate at the 6 week mark if he hasn't been able to latch by then. Marianne felt that my son looked tongue-tied and lip-tied, even though his tongue had already been clipped in the hospital. My Pediatrican said "no, no, he's fine!" When my son was 3 weeks old, I took him to a specialist (against my pediatricians advice) where they agreed and clipped his tongue & upper lip right then and there. The next day he latched right on and we haven't stopped yet!!! My son is now 10.5 months old and still breastfeeding like a champ!!! I am so thankful that Marianne came into my life and helped me get through those early days because breastfeeding was very important to me. I would email Marianne and she was so prompt about returning my emails or calling me back. I highly recommend Marianne to help you and your baby with any breastfeeding questions or concerns. She was a life-saver for me and my son!!! Erica King Wouldn't have made it this far without her "I received Marianne's name from other moms who had such great things to say about her. I had a 10 day old at home and was a first time mom who began to dread each feeding as breastfeeding had become very painful. When Marianne came over, she provided some great tips and gentle encouragement that really helped to improve my confidence as a first time mom. With her help, I was able to continue exclusively breastfeeding, and I'm proud to say that my baby is now 3 months old and still exclusively breastfeed, and he has more than doubled his birth weight! I am not sure that I would have made it this far if it weren't for her help. I would highly recommend her!" Heather Cronin Marianne is a life saver Marianne is a life saver! I was so stressed and nervous with my first who was a terrible latcher. She came to the rescue immediately and worked with us on positioning and different approaches to get him to latch properly. I didn't think I would last a week with him but thanks to her guidance and support I breastfed for 15 months. As a mom, I'm so proud that I could do that for my baby and I owe that to Marianne. Ashley Matts So glad I met Marianne "Marianne was extremely helpful. She was available right when I needed her and continues to be. She is encouraging, supportive, and dedicated to helping mothers with their babies. I am so glad I met Marianne and so is my daughter! Emily Price |
Unbelievably supportive I cannot thank Marianne enough for all of her guidance and expertise regarding breastfeeding. I had difficulty breastfeeding my daughter and knowing I wanted to breastfeed my second child, I contacted Marianne while I was still pregnant. She was unbelievably supportive, including coming to the hospital on Christmas day to see my son and me when he was one day old to check his latch because I was already experiencing soreness! Marianne was also incredibly responsive by phone, text, or email. She answered my questions with clarity and practicality, she calmed any anxieties I had regarding nursing, and her expertise on the subject was clearly apparent with her vast knowledge of the medical literature regarding breastfeeding (as a physician, this was something I truly valued). I am still successfully exclusively breastfeeding my son and I can attribute it all to Marianne! Melissa Rosen Calm, passionate and infinitely patient Marianne provided me with lactation support after the birth of my second child. I had not been able to successfully nurse my first child, discovering months too late that he was tongue tied. While I had continued pumping, I knew that would not be tenable the second time around with a toddler running around. Well, I breast fed my daughter for a full year, and I truly believe that would not have been possible without Marianne’s help and support! She coached me both before the birth and twice after my daughter was born. She talked me down from a ledge on a number of occasions in those first few weeks (including while she was on vacation, I might add), not only giving me great advice on technique but providing the general reassurance that everything is “ok”. Marianne is calm, compassionate, knowledgeable and infinitely patient. As a mother herself, she has the empathy to know exactly what you’re going through and the right thing to say without any hint of judgement. Nicola Nice An Expert in her field Marianne is a lovely and competent lactation consultant. She is clearly an expert in her field and a creative troubleshooter. She is respectful and understanding of all combinations of infant feeding and can easily adapt a schedule for what works well with each family. I will definitely have her come for a visit for baby #3 Beth Pass Sensitive to individual needs Marianne is not only knowledgable and informative, she is wise and intuitive. Each mother and baby are completely unique with different needs from one to the next. Marrianne is incredibly sensitive to this, tuning into both baby and mothers needs with unlimited support and free of judgement! She sees the whole picture and applies her extensive knowledge and wisdom to you and your baby! I could not have survived the beginning of motherhood without her! Hedi Lapin The best money we ever spent Marianne was a godsend when I had my son- when we left the hospital he wasn't feeding and as a first time mom I was very anxious. I had some nursing support in the hospital but it was rushed and nothing really clicked for me and my son. This made feeding time very stressful and something I started to dread...probably not helping the situation. Marianne spent two hours at our home and my son and I never looked back. We had a very rewarding 6 months of breastfeeding and after our session with Marianne it was nothing but positive. My husband and I talked about it the other day- having Marianne help us was the BEST money we spent among all the baby stuff. If we have another child I will just have Marianne come help from the start. Jennifer Cadigan-Wulffleff Kind and and gentle without adding pressure I assumed that breastfeeding would come "naturally." My boobs had other plans. In the first few weeks after my son was born, I think I produced more tears than breast milk. By the time I called in Marianne, I was suffering from low milk supply, poor latch technique, a severe postpartum rash, and moderate postpartum depression. I just could not get the hang of breastfeeding! Throughout my ordeal, Marianne was kind, gentle, and readily available for all of my questions and concerns. She was incredibly encouraging but not in a way that added to the pressure I was already feeling. I am super grateful for everything she did to help me and my awesome (not-a-baby-anymore) baby. Emma Weisfeld-Adams Would not have made this without Marianne Marianne was a huge help to me in the postpartum months. After the incredible difficulty that I had and the 2 bouts of mastitis, I did not think I could breastfeed. Breastfeeding was very important to me and I felt a real sense of hopelessness when it was so difficult for us. It is important for all pregnant women to have lactation support, because it is just not as intuitively easy as people think. With Marianne's help, I ended up nursing for 10 months while building my supply and a large freezer stock. I was able to balance pumping at work and nursing at home in order to meet the needs of my baby. I far surpassed my initial goal of 6 months, and it really would not have been possible without your support. Breastfeeding gave me an incredible connection with my baby, allowed me to sleep better (nursing in bed), and helped me feel calmer in the postpartum months, knowing I was providing the best nutrition for her. It was not always easy, and I am so happy Marianne was there to help. In the end, it was a beautiful and singular experience. Mitra Heshmati Professional and knowledgeable When my second child was born, it became clear, even before we left the hospital, that he was having difficulties latching. I contacted Marianne and she was extremely responsive and supportive. She came to my home to observe my son and immediately recognized that he was struggling with feeding due to a tongue tie. Marianne referred us to an amazing specialist who corrected the issue and she provided follow up to help get my son on track with feeding. Marianne is professional and knowledgeable, but most importantly she is a true support during the very emotional time transitioning a newborn from hospital to home. I was an emotional, tired mess when I brought our son home, and Marianne was a true support during that time. I am forever grateful for her support and would recommend her to anyone having issues with nursing. Kelly Jossart |
